Collector's guide: Conrad models in 1:50 scale

Who is behind Conrad

Conrad is a family business from Kalchreuth in Middle Franconia, founded in 1956 by Ludwig Conrad. The old Nuremberg toy brand Gescha is also part of the company's history. The models are mostly die-cast zinc with plastic parts, and a lot of the work is done by hand, for example painting and printing. Conrad labels its models "Made in Germany". You can read more about the brand and its numbering system in our guide Conrad models: brand, numbering system & series.

What 1:50 means

One centimetre on the model stands for 50 centimetres on the real machine. A ten-metre vehicle becomes about 20 centimetres long – big enough for extending booms, outriggers and readable company lettering, and still small enough for a display cabinet.

What you will find here from Conrad

The biggest groups are mobile cranes – Liebherr LTM and LTC, Grove GMK, Demag AC – and excavators such as the Liebherr crawler excavators of the R 9xx series or Kobelco SK. There are also tippers with Meiller bodies on MAN TGS and Mercedes-Benz Arocs, heavy haulage with Goldhofer or Schwarzmüller trailers, truck mixers, wheel loaders, Bauer drilling rigs, crawler cranes and MAN TGE vans. You will find all road vehicles together under truck models 1:50. Liebherr is clearly the most common prototype brand; all Liebherr models from every maker are under Liebherr models. Many pieces carry the colours of real companies, such as Mammoet, Sarens, Felbermayr or Eurovia.

In stock, register now, collector archive

Every model has exactly one status in our shop. In stock means: it is here with us, delivery takes 2–4 working days within Germany. Register now means: announced by Conrad, but not here yet. You can sign up without obligation – no order, no payment, no reservation. All announced models are listed under upcoming models. Collector archive means: sold out and not produced again. These models stay visible so you can look up what was made. Use "Ask for an alternative" and we will look for a similar model for you. There are also a few accessories made to order and some models on request – the product page always tells you which.

How to find the right model

The quickest way is the item number. The digits after the slash show the version: the Liebherr LTM 1030-2.1 is in the shop as 2105/0 in factory colours and as 2105/06 in Mammoet colours. Same machine, different livery. If you collect a particular company, search for the number and the company name together.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Conrad models made?

Conrad models are "Made in Germany". The company's head office and development are in Kalchreuth near Nuremberg.

What does the number after the slash mean?

It stands for the version. /0 is usually the factory version, higher numbers are other liveries of the same model – for example 2105/0 and 2105/06.

Can I still buy a model from the collector archive?

Not through the cart, because it is sold out and will not be made again. Ask for an alternative on the product page and we will get back to you by email.

Can I pre-order announced Conrad models?

We do not take paid pre-orders. You can register for free; you only buy once the model is available.
