Limited Editions & Special Models 1:50 – the small production runs

Here you will find models that are not part of the regular catalog program: customer liveries for a specific company, anniversary models, trade fair editions, and special colors. Around 36 models, all in 1:50 scale, from Conrad (20) and WSI (16).

What makes a model a special edition here

There are four paths leading to this category, and they are identifiable to varying degrees by their title.

The company livery. The most common case. A model is produced for a specific haulage, crane, or construction company and bears their colors and logo. You can identify it in the title by the name in quotation marks – "Gruber", "MSG", "Thömen", "Max Bögl". These versions are produced once and are not re-released.

The anniversary model. The Liebherr L 522 wheel loader for the company’s 75th anniversary (2882/01), the FAUN-HAUBER with SMG drilling rig (1042/0).

The trade fair or event edition. The VW Crafter with long wheelbase as an IAA 2024 special edition (1614/04).

The special color. The same machine in a paint scheme not found in the catalog – the MACK MD with flatbed in "BLACK", the Mercedes-Benz Arocs heavy-duty tractor in "SILVER", the Liebherr R 922 V as "60000 Anniversaire" (2214/01).

What you will find here

The focus is on the road: 18 commercial vehicles and 12 heavy-haulage combinations, plus six excavators, four mobile cranes, three transporters, two wheel loaders, and one drilling rig. Among the prototype brands, Liebherr leads with twelve machines, followed by MAN (6) and Nooteboom (5) – the latter being a semi-trailer manufacturer, not a chassis manufacturer.

The item number is particularly important here

Because the same machine appears in several company liveries, the number is the only unique identifier. The Liebherr R 940 demolition excavator is available three times: 2222/03 for DEMCY/Eiffage, 2222/04 for CARDEM, 2222/06 for Bock & Söhne. The Scania R Highline CR20H is available three times under 01-5265, 01-4122, and 01-5248.

Conrad uses a slash, WSI uses a hyphen – and WSI separates them clearly: 01-xxxx are commercial vehicles, 51-xxxx are cranes.

Two things you should know

Not everything is available immediately. A large part of this category consists of announced models that have not yet been delivered. Models that have not yet been produced can also be found in the models in planning section.

Small production run does not mean numbered. None of these models carry an imprinted numbering in the style of "042/500". The limitation is determined by the client's production order size, not by a certificate.

Buying Limited Editions – in a nutshell

1:50 scale, die-cast zinc, customer and anniversary liveries, small production runs. Prices currently range from around €54 for a MAN TGE panel van to €1,250 for the Scheuerle heavy-haulage set with side girder bridge STB 320. Sorted by vehicle type, these same models can be found under truck models, cranes, and heavy haulage. Shipped from Germany, packaged for collectors. Not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
